FAQ
Fillout gets a lot right, including something we care about: it doesn't charge per seat. Its free plan is generous, with unlimited forms, unlimited seats and 1,000 responses per month, plus a long list of features. The questions start when your forms grow up. According to Fillout's pricing page, Starter, Pro and Business cost $15, $40 and $75 per month on annual billing ($180, $480 and $900 per year). Responses are capped at 2,000 and 5,000 per month on Starter and Pro and unlimited on Business. Branding is fully removed from Pro, and custom domains are listed on Business.
So the moment a client wants forms on their own domain, you are on the top self-serve plan.

Fillout is more of a platform: 50+ field types, calculations and scoring, PDF generation, scheduling forms, resume-in-progress, pre-fetching data and its own workflow and app tools. If your forms are complex applications, Fillout may be the better tool. Deftform is intentionally focused: clean forms with conditional logic, multi-page layouts, hidden fields, eSignatures, file uploads and payments.
Fillout's help center says submission data is stored in the United States by default, with EU hosting on its Team and Enterprise plans. Deftform is built by ivy.mayhem GmbH in Germany. Most data is stored in Falkenstein, Germany, and files stay within the EU, on every plan, including Pre-paid.
